Mark joined Oxford Science Enterprises in March 2025 as Scientist-in-Residence in the Deep Tech team. He brings extensive expertise in chemistry and materials science, with a strong track record in academic research and scientific innovation.
In his role, Mark works closely with Oxford academics to identify and support promising Deep Tech opportunities. He plays a key role in the technical assessment of potential investments, ensuring OSE continues to back high-potential research at its earliest stages.
Before joining OSE, Mark was a Research Fellow at Imperial College London, where he led his own research programme focused on cutting-edge chemical sciences. Prior to that, he held an EPFL Fellowship at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.
Mark’s academic journey began at the University of Oxford, where he earned an MChem and a DPhil in Chemistry. He remained at Oxford for postdoctoral research and a teaching position at Magdalen College.
Throughout his career, Mark has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, contributed to book chapters, and secured significant research funding from institutions including the Leverhulme Trust, the European Research Council (ERC), and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
