Peter joined the Board of Oxford Science Enterprises in January 2024.
He is a leading statistician and geneticist, having enjoyed a distinguished academic career spanning almost four decades, latterly as Professor of Statistical Science and Director of the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford. He was knighted in 2019 for services to the understanding of human genetics in disease, is a Fellow of the Royal Society and of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and has won numerous academic awards and prizes for his work.
Peter has subsequently been successful as an entrepreneur, as co-founder and CEO of Genomics plc, a University of Oxford spinout company harnessing large-scale genetic information to develop innovative precision healthcare tools, and to bring new understanding to drug discovery. Genomics has recently closed a successful Series C round, and has offices in Oxford and Cambridge in the UK and in Cambridge, Massachusetts
