The Health Tech team at Oxford Science Enterprises is issuing an open call for bold, innovative AI-driven ideas that could solve critical healthcare problems and form the foundations of new Health Tech companies – from improving diagnostics to accelerating drug development, and beyond.
Whether you’re modelling biological processes in a novel way, analysing healthcare data, wondering if your expertise in satellite imaging could transform cardiology, or a clinician with ideas of how AI could improve patient care, we want to hear from you!
What We’re Looking For
Great people with AI-driven ideas and innovations that can transform healthcare, including but not limited to examples such as:
- Pushing beyond the hype in generative AI to develop systems that can support the delivery of high efficacy clinical care.
- Creating next level biological process simulation models that can shed light on how different treatment options may work in patients.
- Combining unique data sets and your personal expertise to create better disease prediction algorithms in cardiology, neurology, oncology and beyond.
- Breakthroughs we haven’t yet imagined…

Support
The most exciting teams and ideas will be offered support to help them understand the commercial potential of their technology, and if suitable a pathway towards co-creation of a new Health Tech company, and potentially seed funding from OSE
Support may include:
- Engagement with the OSE team to help build a business case, navigate the spin out process and secure investment
- OSE funding for technical feasibility, market gap analysis, IP strategy, or regulatory pathways.
- A pathway to pre-seed or seed investment into a newly formed entity.
Who Can Apply?
Researchers, academics, entrepreneurs and students from across the University of Oxford, Oxford University Hospitals, Harwell and Culham Science parks, and the wider Oxford ecosystem.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be reviewed by our Health Tech team based on:
- Clinical need: Does the solution address a significant healthcare challenge?
- Novelty of approach: Is it a unique application of AI?
- Technology feasibility: Can it realistically be developed and implemented?
- Market viability: What is the commercial potential of the solution?
The Process
- Submit a brief application via our website by Monday 3rd March.
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present and discuss their ideas in a 30-minute session with the OSE Health Tech team in March.
- OSE will then work with the most exciting teams to advance their ideas, explore commercialisation and discuss potential investment to build the next wave of Health Tech companies
